MCALINDEN Family History
Developed in the 16th century from the pre 10th century Gaelic surname Mac Giolla Fhiondain, meaning "The son of the follower of St Finian", this is an Irish surname of great antiquity. Originally from County Fermanagh, and later prominent in Counties Armagh and Down, the clan was prominent in the various attempts to overthrough English rule in the 17th and 18th centuries. They reached they peak of power in the heyday of the Gaelic order before the 16th century, and like several other clans including the O'Doherty's, they claim descent from the famous Niall of the Nine Hostages.Select Audience

Tara
Hi, my name is Tara Derschow, I am 33 and have just started trying to look up my family tree and would love to find out more about my great grandfather. I am from Western Australia I might also add. My grandfather was born a McAlinden but was adopted out and took the Crick family name.
He also found out he had a sister from England that moved to Australia whom he never met.
He wife’s name was Daphne Isobelle Parkinson and his children are Shirley Crick (my grandmother who married Les Craine my grandfather, but now goes by the name Houston) and Gary Crick.
My great grandfather’s name is Harry Bell McAlinden.
If you had any information on where to go from there I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you Kindly,
Tara
