MASSEY Family History
Recorded in the various spellings of Macy, Massy, Massey, Massie and Macey, this very interesting surname is of pre 8th century Old French origins. Introduced into England after the Norman Conquest of 1066 in some numbers, many of whom received significant land grants, the ultimate surname has two possible origins. Firstly and most likely, it is a locational surname from one of the many villages in Normandy who provided the bulk of Duke William's 1066 expeditionary force. These include such places as Macey in La Manche, Massy in Seine-Inferieure, and Mace-sur-Orne, in the department of Orne itself. A second possible origin is as a short form of the Roman personal name 'Massius', itself a development of the original Matthew...Select Audience

Can you tell me anything about Eloise Massey born in the 1900's, and died in 1976.

The real original French Massy's ?? I only believe in the real French origins of MASSY Essonne 300 After Christ , the GalloRoman Massius ..
The English Chester Massey's and later Irish Massy's are leftovers from the deformation of the original French name of - Guillaume de le Fereté de Mascé ,Seigneur in MACEY Normandy France one of the warriors that came over with William The Conqueror in 1066 in the Hastings Batle , he provided 60 ships for the combats and started in Cheshire the Names of Massey // see the first Hamon Massey's of Dunham later on the English Massey's were involved into the English -Irish Cromwell Catholic - Protestant offensives and one of them changed the name into Massy without the 'E' before the Y .. in this way resembling to the original 300 AC original French name of Massy Essonne origines . I do not believe there is any bloodbands in these two tribes , and I believe the oldest and real are going back to Paris -MASSY Essonne on the Mount Gaudon 's Villa Rustica and if So then they were derived from the Latino Massius or Maccius name and these go back to at least 50 BEFORE Christ in the Gallo Roman area .read the Livy books about Massius 56 B.C. now the Barbados Massy's is a different matter ,If you know that lot's of Irish people were moved over to Barbados around the Cromwell time 1650's ..think about possibly Irish Massy's in this perspective .
Canadian and USA Massy's and Massey's can have one of both origins aswell real old French as English and Irish and be no blood-family frome eachother ..who knows the real truth ???? Puzzle !!
the English 'DOMESDAY ' book contains lots of Massey's as property owners starting at 1060 about !
And English Peerage is full with barons Massey .but inn France several are 'seigneurs and also baron '-de Massy , from around 1750 even the Monaco Grimaldis are into the ' de Massy ' tribe !
everyday I find more ancestry news .
Benji Massy without evil
Latin -- Gallo Roman originals long before Christ already .. France .... look at the official registered original MASSY names .. Mass'E''y is probably a bad English habit to spell the French name wrong
DNA ?? hahaha how many bastards ? are made in wars left and right ? raped woman etc .. I don't believe in these DNA stories .. I keep it on the registered official names and still there are some left and right out of other pants :-) years christ yr 1 to yr1600 : MASSY registrations 291 European in FRANCE , 2 in north Spain , 10 in New York , 1 in Columbia ,1 near Texas USA some would already have been in the Uk and changed names from MASSY into MASS'E'Y as in my opinion Massy's French are direct related to the Latin Gallo Romans MASSIUS ;; . I am a pure Latin breed French MASSY myself , it's in the genes ,I am not 'RED' irish :-)

(Part 1 of 3) The Massey name has a long history in the British Isles, but now DNA and some recorded history says its origin is from the north-west region of the Emerald Island. The Massey story [dominated by DNA tribal marker R1b-L513, Subgroup C] can trace their beginnings to the Finn Valley in Donegal, Ireland from 50 BCE. Perhaps the journey begins with the Clanna Dedad; Deda, son of Sen or Deda Mac Sin. The Massey surname origin is possibly from the Dáirine [R1b-L513] who found the Kingdom of Brycheiniog, Wales around 300 CE.

(Part 2 of 3) According to research, the Kingdom of Brycheiniog will take part in an invasion of Brittany, France around 500 CE. But how could this be? Recent discoveries from DNA testing are unlocking the migration patterns of Celtic tribes as late as 800 CE to 1200 CE. The Massey story begins in pre-history Ireland but this descendant will then move to Wales where the family can be traced back to their Welsh tribe Cydifor Fawr. This line and many of his kin will then travel to Brittany, France during the Dark Ages.

(Part 3 of 3) Discover their newly found untold story and how forgotten texts bring their story back to life. From the ebook, “The Tribe Within” learn how DNA unfolds this amazing tale and if you look in the right places, how history narrates this evidence. There is another written account of their story, but it is camouflaged in smoke and myth – it will become the tales of King Arthur.
